A part of navigating through life is figuring out what career you’ll go into. The bigger question being what is your “purpose” in life, how will you leave a mark on this world, what kind of change will you be the catalyst of? Let me start by saying that just by being born you already made a change to this world. Also that just by existing, you are aligned with your purpose. The North Node in astrology is a point in your birth chart that can indicate what path you’re on in this lifetime and the passions, talents, and growth you need in order to reach your fullest potential.
In your birth chart look for a horseshoe shaped figure. This point in the birth chart is when the Moon’s orbit was crossing the Sun’s path. If you believe in reincarnation, some astrologists say that the North Node symbolizes your future and the South Node represents your past lives. All of your comfort zones, and inherent talents exist from the South Node, making it desirable to stay in that energy. The goal is not to overcome the South Node and become the North Node, but to find a balance between the two. As with everything in astrology, you must factor in house placements and the aspects!
The easiest way to learn astrology is by learning the archetype of the zodiacs and their house placements first. My North Node is in Leo, 5th house and South Node in Aquarius, 11th house. Leo as an archetype includes self expression, leadership, creativity, and confidence. In the context of a career or life path, this means stepping courageously into the spotlight and leading with your heart and passions. Aquarius in the South Node position represents my preference for being an outsider and not caring for the spotlight.
The hardest part of fulfilling your North Node is embracing the uncertainty. Of course it will be uncomfortable to release old habits and embrace new ones. The lessons you have already learned from your South Node should be used as a tool to support your North Node. For the Leo/Aquarius axis my Aquarius SN gives me a visionary mindset, and my Leo NN asks me to bring that vision to life with courage and enthusiasm. I need to balance the two by leading with both heart(Leo) and intellect(Aquarius).
